Body and inch loss
Ultrasound cavitation at CoLaz clinics
Ultrasound cavitation at CoLaz uses low-frequency ultrasound waves to liquefy localised fat cells in the stomach, love handles, thighs and bingo wings, with the released content then cleared through the lymphatic system. From £149 per single session, with structured course pricing, across our UK clinics, with a free consultation and a written body-area plan before any session is booked.

Ultrasound cavitation is one of the most popular non-invasive body contouring treatments in the UK because there are no needles, no anaesthetic and no downtime, yet the effect on localised fat pockets is measurable across a structured course. At CoLaz it is delivered by trained clinicians, planned around your specific body areas at a free consultation, and priced from £149 per session across our UK clinics.
How ultrasound cavitation actually works
Ultrasound cavitation uses low-frequency ultrasound waves delivered through a handpiece moved across the skin. Those waves travel through the upper layers of tissue and create microscopic pressure changes inside the fat cell layer beneath. The pressure changes disrupt the fat cell membrane and liquefy the stored fat content.
The released fatty acids do not vanish in the chair. They travel through the lymphatic system, the body's drainage network, and are processed by the liver over the following days and weeks. That is why hydration, gentle movement and a sensible diet during the course matter as much as the sessions themselves.
The technique is fully non-invasive. There are no needles, no anaesthetic and no recovery time. The handpiece feels warm on the skin and most patients describe a high-pitched humming sound in the ear that fades as soon as the session ends.
Which areas respond best
Ultrasound cavitation works on localised pockets of fat, not on overall weight loss. The most reliable areas are the lower abdomen and stomach, the love handles either side of the waist, the inner and outer thighs, and the bingo-wing area at the back of the upper arms.
The bra-strap fat at the back also responds well, as does the soft tissue at the front and sides of the lower abdomen. Larger or more diffuse areas usually need a longer course to show a visible change, and the protocol is agreed at consultation with a written plan and photographs so progress can be tracked objectively.
The treatment is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Patients who maintain sensible eating, regular movement and good hydration during and after the course get the best and longest-lasting result, because the treatment reduces existing fat cells but does not prevent new ones from forming if calorie intake stays consistently above expenditure.
What a typical course looks like
A full course is typically six to twelve sessions spaced one week apart. Smaller areas often respond well to a course of six, larger areas usually need eight to twelve, and the protocol is agreed at your free consultation before the first session is booked.
Each session takes about forty-five minutes and finishes with a short lymphatic drainage massage to support fat clearance in the days that follow. There is no downtime, you can return to work straight after, and the only restrictions are sensible: drink at least two litres of water for the next three days, walk for thirty minutes the day after each session, avoid alcohol and high-sugar foods for forty-eight hours, and skip saunas and intense exercise for twenty-four hours.
Circumference measurements and photographs taken at the start of the course are reviewed at the halfway point and again at the end so the change is tracked objectively rather than estimated. Most patients see the strongest result building from session four onwards and continuing for several weeks after the final session as the lymphatic system completes the clearance.
Available across selected CoLaz clinics
Ultrasound cavitation is delivered at our CoLaz Derby, Slough, Reading, Southall and Hounslow clinics by qualified clinicians. Use the clinic finder to choose the location that suits your postcode and schedule, or send a WhatsApp message, most clinics reply within five minutes during opening hours.
Often considered alongside
Patients booking ultrasound cavitation often consider electrolipolysis as a needle or pad alternative for the same areas, fat freeze for stubborn pinchable fat that responds best to controlled cooling, Aqualyx when an injectable fat dissolver is more appropriate for the area, and Lemon Bottle fat-dissolving injections for smaller, more defined pockets such as under the chin.
Common questions
What patients ask first.
What is ultrasound cavitation and how does it work? +
Ultrasound cavitation is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses low-frequency ultrasound waves, delivered through a handpiece moved across the skin, to create microscopic pressure changes inside localised fat cells. Those pressure changes disrupt the cell membrane and liquefy the stored fat content. The released fatty acids then travel through the lymphatic system, the body's drainage network, and are metabolised by the liver over the following days. There is no cutting, no needles, no anaesthetic and no recovery time. The handpiece feels warm on the skin and most patients describe a high-pitched humming sound in the ear that fades as soon as the session ends.
Which areas can be treated with ultrasound cavitation at CoLaz? +
The treatment is designed for localised pockets of fat rather than overall weight loss. The most commonly treated areas are the stomach and lower abdomen, the love handles and flanks either side of the waist, the inner and outer thighs, the bingo-wing area at the back of the upper arms, and the bra-strap fat at the back. We always confirm the realistic outcome for your specific area at consultation, with photographs and a circumference measurement so progress is tracked objectively across the course.
How is ultrasound cavitation different from electrolipolysis or fat freeze? +
All three are non-surgical body contouring treatments, but they work differently. Ultrasound cavitation uses sound waves through a handpiece on the skin surface, with no needles. Electrolipolysis uses low-frequency electrical currents through fine needle electrodes or surface pads. Fat freeze uses controlled cooling to crystallise the fat cell, which is then naturally eliminated over the following weeks. At consultation we will recommend the protocol that fits your area, your skin type and your tolerance for needles, and in some cases we combine more than one across a treatment plan.
How many ultrasound cavitation sessions do I need? +
A full course is typically six to twelve sessions spaced one week apart, with the exact number depending on the size of the area and the amount of fat to be reduced. Smaller areas often respond well to a course of six, larger areas usually need eight to twelve. The protocol is agreed at your free consultation, and course pricing is confirmed in writing before any session is booked so the cost is clear from the start.
Is there any downtime after ultrasound cavitation? +
No, there is no downtime. The treatment is fully non-invasive and you can return to work, the school run or normal life immediately. You may notice mild redness in the treatment area for an hour or two and a feeling of warmth for the rest of the day. Drinking plenty of water and walking for thirty minutes the day after each session helps the lymphatic system clear the released fat content faster, which is why hydration is part of the protocol rather than an optional extra.
Who should not have ultrasound cavitation? +
We do not treat patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device, who have a history of significant heart, liver or kidney disease, who have active cancer or who are within five years of cancer treatment, who have epilepsy, or who have an active skin infection in the treatment area. Patients with metal implants in the treatment area, a bleeding disorder or very thin skin need a specific discussion at consultation. We always review your medical history in full before agreeing the protocol.
How much does ultrasound cavitation cost at CoLaz? +
A single session is £149. A course of six is £594, working out to £99 per session. The course recommended is matched to the size and number of areas at your free consultation, and the full price is confirmed in writing before the first session is booked. There are no upsells in the chair and no hidden charges, and the consultation fee is redeemable against any treatment you book.
