It combines a targeted in-clinic peel using a blend of acids designed for acne-prone skin with a structured at-home regimen using Mesoestetic supporting products to be used between sessions. The combination targets the four main drivers of acne: excess sebum, follicular blockage, bacterial overgrowth and inflammation. A standard acne peel works on the surface for the session and stops there; the Acnelan system is built as a course where the in-clinic sessions and the home regimen reinforce each other across several weeks. It is suited to patients with active inflammatory acne, oily congested skin and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

The in-clinic peel solution combines acids that are oil-soluble enough to reach inside the pore, where surface peels do not, along with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredients that calm active lesions. The home regimen continues that work between sessions: a targeted cleanser to manage oil and bacteria, an active serum or treatment to reduce inflammation and support pore clearing, and an SPF 50 to protect the skin while it remodels. The home regimen also helps prevent the post-inflammatory pigmentation that often follows active acne in higher-melanin skin. The exact protocol is agreed at consultation and confirmed in writing.

The standard course is four to six in-clinic sessions spaced two to three weeks apart, alongside daily use of the supporting home products. Most patients see a noticeable reduction in active spots and oiliness after the second session, with the most meaningful change in skin clarity and post-inflammatory pigmentation appearing over the full course. Maintenance is then a single Acnelan session every two to three months alongside continued daily home care. Most patients have mild redness and a warm, tight feeling for the rest of the day after a session, similar to mild sunburn. Light flaking from day two or three is normal and means the peel is working; it usually finishes by day five to seven. Most patients return to work the same afternoon, with light cover-up makeup once the first twenty-four hours have passed. Active acne lesions can temporarily look more inflamed for forty-eight hours before they settle and resolve faster than they otherwise would. Significant side effects are uncommon with the Acnelan protocol in trained hands; we will review the full safety detail at consultation.

Yes, that is one of its strengths. Post-inflammatory pigmentation, the brown or darker patches left behind where active acne lesions have healed, responds well to the Acnelan protocol because the peel and the home regimen together target both new acne and the pigmentation it leaves. For very deep post-acne scarring with textural change, microneedling or other texture-focused treatments are typically a better fit, and we will discuss the right combination for your skin at consultation. We do not treat patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have an active skin infection, eczema flare or cold sore in the treatment area, who are on isotretinoin currently or in the last six months, who have a tan or recent strong sun exposure, who have a known sensitivity to any component of the Acnelan formulation, or who have a history of keloid scarring on the face. Active retinol and acid-based actives in your existing routine need to be paused for one week before each session.
