Laser Hair Removal at CoLaz

Laser hair removal is the process of removing unwanted hair from any area of your body. It's a very popular treatment for both women and men, with many people choosing to go through the procedure as an alternative to shaving or waxing.

There are hundreds of clinics across the UK that offer laser hair removal treatments, but not all are created equal. You want a top clinic that offers medical-grade lasers for all skin types, so who should you choose?

If you're looking for expert advice in laser hair removal treatments, then CoLaz has over 1 million treatments delivered and is rated 92% on TrustPilot reviews! They've got 9 clinics across the UK and offer their clients some of the best prices in town too!

Is Laser Hair Removal Better than Using Shaving or Waxing?

Even though shaving is quick and easy, it only offers short-term results.

One benefit of laser hair removal is it's a permanent solution. Waxing and shaving both need to be done regularly, but with laser hair removal after the treatments, you can go for months without having to worry about hair at all.

Compare the cost of laser to waxing every few weeks for at least twenty years; you'll find that laser hair removal is much more affordable.

Laser hair removal is a more affordable alternative for individuals with busy schedules who don't want to spend time shaving.

How Does the Procedure Work?

The laser fires a beam of light to the skin absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. The temperature of the hair follicle is heated just enough to destroy the strand that connects with and sustains growth. To completely understand how a laser works, it provides three stages of the hair growth process.

It is essential to understand that hairs in the catagen and telogen phases will not be permanently destroyed. Most clinics or salons recommend booking 6 to 12 sessions because, at any given time, your hair will be in a different growth stage.

Laser technology does not work on white or grey hairs because the laser light cannot target light-coloured hairs.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

Laser hair removal is very safe. The technology has improved vastly over the years, and laser practitioners undergo a rigorous training before performing treatments on clients.

The entire staff at CoLaz is fully qualified and must hold a Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL hair removal treatments. We perform a patch test 48 hours before actual treatment to make sure you don't react to the laser.

Skin Types

The lasers we use at CoLaz are medical grade and used by medical practitioners worldwide. The machines work on all skin types and are very effective at permanently reducing hair growth. Our expertise is in dark and Asian skin types, so we're able to ensure you get the best laser hair removal treatment possible.

How Permanent is Laser Hair Removal?

It depends on what area of the body and what type of hair you are treating. If you have very thick, coarse hair, you will see an 85- 90% reduction in hair growth. Someone with fine hair will only see a reduction of approximately 45- 60%.

In our experience, permanent hair removal on the face is more effective for men than for women because women tend to grow new and more hair on their faces as they get older. This hair growth can cause changes in hormones, menopause, or medication.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?

The costs listed below are estimates. You must attend a free consultation.

The laser technician will confirm your hair type, body area to be treated, and your growth pattern and give you an accurate quote. The good news is that the cost of laser treatments has dropped by as much as half over the last few years.

Myths and Facts about Laser Hair Removal

Myths Facts

Harmful to internal organs.

The laser beam only targets the melanin in the hair shaft. Therefore, the beam does not reach any internal organs or emit any cancerous ultraviolet light.

The laser burns the skin.

Performed by fully trained professionals is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hairs without damage to the skin.

Causes ingrown hairs and pimples.

Ingrown hairs are often the result of waxing, shaving, or epilating. Laser hair removal treatment can eliminate those ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and pimples because it destroys the hair and follicle.

Does laser hair removal Hurt?

While some areas are more sensitive than others, most clients who have the procedure experience only a slight temporary stinging sensation from the laser.

Doesn’t provide lasting results.

While there's no guarantee after laser hair removal, most people can stop shaving for years. Some may never need to shave again, and if your hair does grow back, it will be much finer and lighter in colour. Either way, it is better than shaving daily!

We recommend maintenance laser treatments every six months to a year to keep your skin smooth and hair-free for optimum results.

You have to let your hair grow for a week before your appointment.

For the best results, you should shave just before your treatment session. If you do not shave beforehand, the laser technician may do it for you. Shaving allows more laser energy to target the hair follicle beneath the skin's surface instead of the hair shaft. Please don't wax, pluck, or bleach your hair before an appointment because doing so can make the laser ineffective.

Can Laser be Performed
on the Full Body?

Laser hair removal can be done anywhere on the body. The most popular areas for women are the bikini, face, underarms, and legs. Most men choose to have their back, chest, and beard line treated.

What to Expect from
Laser Hair Removal Treatment

They will review your medical background and ask about medications you may be taking that can affect the results of laser treatment.

If you are a suitable candidate, we will do a patch test that day. If you don't have any adverse reactions after 48 hours, you can start your first session!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Laser hair removal treatments are designed to provide permanent results for most patients.
No one laser is suitable for everyone, so it depends on your personal needs and the type of hair you want removing.

What will happen during my treatment session? During your treatment session, an aesthetician will place the laser head over your skin and use it to remove unwanted hair. The laser sends light into the root of a targeted hair follicle, destroying its ability to produce additional hairs.
There may be temporary redness in some people's skin following treatment. However, this is very rare.
The number of sessions needed varies from patient to patient and depends on the area being treated, hair density, coarseness, thickness etc.
After your last session, you may notice various changes in how your body reacts with hormones that cause light hairs or small amounts of lost hair around where it was previously removed. There's also no guarantee for permanent removal despite going through laser treatments as there are some cases when more than one session might be required.
There is no set number of sessions for everyone based on their individual needs and goals. It depends mainly on how much time has passed since you first began trying to grow out that section of the leg with regrowth methods like shaving, waxing etc.

Can Laser Be Done on Darker Skins? Yes, the answer is long as the laser is a NdYAG because the laser's wavelength is absorbed by dark skin compared to other lasers.
You will have to wait until the tattoo heals before you go back for treatments, or it may lead to the burning of your skin. The downside of this is that regrowing hair might be more resistant because the laser works better on an area with no pigment. Also, tattoos can cause a change in colour from reds/purples, yellows, oranges etc., which means it becomes hard for the laser light to penetrate deeper into the skin where hairs are growing out.
Over the long term, laser hair removal is worth it. You may need a few treatments to get the desired results, but you will be able to avoid waxing or shaving for years and only have minimal regrowth of hairs on areas that are treated with laser light.

How Long is Laser Hair Removal? That all depends on which part of the body you laser. For, e.g., the Chest and back will take about an hour for each session, while the face might only require a third of that time.
Laser hair removal is not a one-time thing; you need to go in every few months, or at least six times over two years, depending on how fast your hair regrows back.
The simple answer is Yes. We have many clients with laser hair removal in the pubic area. Our team of professionals use a medical grade laser on all skin types to ensure that we are getting rid of hairs for good, without any side effects.
Laser hair removal is not a one-time thing; you need to go in every few months, or at least six times over two years, depending on how fast your hair regrows back. Your laser technician will remove hairs for the most part when they’re actively growing out of the follicles.
A laser hair removal session can take anywhere from ten minutes to an hour depending on how many areas you are having treated. The technician will first clean the area, apply a numbing cream, and then use the laser device to target the follicles that cause hair growth.

This process isn’t painful at all; it just feels like pressure and warmth when done correctly. After treatment is completed, your skin might feel slightly warm for up to twenty-four hours but not so much as would be considered uncomfortable or painful in any way.
