Give Your Skin a New Glow with a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel

For lightening and luminosity, discover why you need to book in today for CoLaz’s trending new Cosmelan facial peel….

Many of us find that our facial complexion changes as we age. This is often due to changes in the way our bodies generate melanin. In addition, over the course of our lifetime, there a number of increasing factors which can affect the skin cells that produce melanin. Pigmentation issues can be devastating to deal with for an individual and such concerns can have significant psychological effects which should not be discounted.

Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common reasons people visit cosmetic skin care professionals. It’s a rising problem in all ethnicitites and skin types, with over 90% of people aged 50+ showing signs of melanic hyperpigmentation. (For more on the different types of skin hyperpigmentation, click here.)

Whether it's skin ageing caused by continuous sun exposure, facial blemishes from excessive pigmentation or other more general imperfections caused by melanin, dark blemishes are more and more commonplace problems today. As such, discolouration, especially on the hands and face, is becoming one of the greatest aesthetic concerns of both the modern man and woman. Changing the melanin pigment levels of our skin though is no easy task. Or is it?

What is Melanin?

What is Melanin

As well as language, culture, eye shape, and hair colour, we’re all very different when it comes to the unique colour of our skin. Skin colour is determined by the pigment known as melanin, which we all possess, just in different ratios. Melanin is produced by cells called melanocytes.

Skin blemishes of melanic origin on the face and body are now a more common complaint among many of us. Any skin discolouration and pigmentation features we each individually possess are caused by many of these environmental factors that are not always within our control such as age, genetics, race, gender, sun exposure, acne, hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy or menopause, and even the use of oral contraceptive.

It's only possible to remove unattractive skin blemishes and recover the smoothness of the skin with a treatment that has a direct effect on the intimate formation process of the pigment (melanin). Thankfully, all the skin issues mentioned so far can be successfully addressed with the revolutionary new Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel.

The top-selling brand Mesoestetic Cosmelan treatment, which our expert CoLaz technicians are trained to use, works to lighten visible skin discolourations and positively impact the cell cycle that causes pigment to surface. The cosmetic treatment affects the cells directly responsible for skin pigmentation by decreasing any colour production to significantly reduce and even eliminate the appearance of unattractive blemishes.

For up to 95% reduction with the world's leading and most effective treatment for pigmentation caused by melanin.

What is Cosmelan?

Cosmelan is perhaps the most powerful skin whitening therapy available when compared to other depigmentation treatments currently possible on the market. The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical procedure designed to significantly reduce areas of hyperpigmentation and skin discolouration.

How Does Cosmelan Work?

The unique, multi-ingredient, melanin-inhibiting depigmentation peel is suitable for all skin types. The Cosmelan procedure reduces the skin’s natural melanin production by restricting the production of melanin to provide an even complexion. Dull skin, dark spots, dry areas, blemishes, and even acne scars can all be significantly decreased with the peel.

The ongoing use of the Cosmelan II cream for post-salon treatment will continue to reduce the likelihood of the hyper-pigmentation returning. Cosmelan is up to 95% effective for dramatically addressing areas of hyperpigmentation, melisma, and blotchy or scarred skin.

If you are undergoing any other skin treatments, especially ones which include glycolic acid, you must stop these completely at least one week prior to attending your CoLaz Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment.

The Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment can only be administered by trained professionals and you should continue with the support products at home, on a daily basis, according to the guidelines indicated.

Cosmelan FAQ

What will my skin look like after the treatments?
Your complexion will be slightly pink post-salon treatment and may be slightly sensitive. Use the creams prescribed by your CoLaz technician to calm the skin down.

When will I start seeing results?
As soon as the first mask application is removed you will begin to see a lightening effect that will continue to rejuvenate your complexion over a six month period until optimal results are achieved at 12 months.

Do I need to avoid make-up after my treatment?
All skin care products that you wish to use on your skin will need to be approved by your CoLaz specialist in order to avoid unpleasant reactions. Gentle cleansers, moisturisers, and sunscreens will be provided to you as part of the post-salon treatment. It is critical to wear sun protection daily, and that you avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible.

How does the Cosmelan treatment differ to a Dermamelan peel?
If you’re interested in the more advanced peel, Dermamelan, please contact CoLaz to discuss available treatments. Only our in-house doctors are certified to apply this procedure so it’s practicable at only certain CoLaz salon locations.
