What Are Sebaceous Cysts?

Sebaceous cysts are small, painless bumps that form under the skin. Sebaceous cysts are often confused with other lumps and bumps, such as pimples, boils, and warts.

Sebaceous cysts are typically round or oval in shape and measure between two and five centimetres in diameter. Sebaceous cysts are caused by the accumulation of sebum, an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands to lubricate the skin. The cysts are most common in adults and typically occur on the face, neck, back, or chest.

What Do Sebaceous Cysts Look Like?

Sebaceous cysts typically have a smooth, shiny surface and are filled with a cloudy white or yellow liquid and measure between two and five centimetres. Sebaceous cysts can be open and exposed or closed and sealed. Sebaceous cysts do not typically cause pain unless they rupture, become infected, or inflamed.

What Treatment Does CoLaz Offer For Sebaceous Cysts?

Advanced electrolysis is a highly effective method for getting rid of sebaceous cysts. It takes a few minutes to treat the keratosis permanently, and from our experience, patients typically enjoy 100% success rates.

Your clinician will treat the blemish with electrolysis and, in some cases, can remove the content entirely during the treatment. The process usually only takes 30-45 minutes to complete. After treatment, a small scab will form, slough off naturally in a few days.

Please note a doctor’s note is required to confirm it is a sebaceous cyst before treatment.

    Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE CYST?

Typically, one treatment is required; however, if you require follow-up treatments after 4 weeks, this will be provided free of charge on the same blemish.

IF I NEED TO HAVE A FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT, DO I NEED TO PAY EXTRA?

No. Everything is included in the price, so you will not incur any extra cost

IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FOR REMOVING SEBACEOUS CYSTS?

After treatment, the area will feel sore, and you may experience tingling in the area. Scabs and crust will form - you must allow these to slough naturally and not pick them as this will lead to scarring.

    IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

At the treatment time, you may feel a tingling sensation, and there may be some discomfort. Your clinician will continuously assess your comfort levels.
