Blood spots removal at CoLaz clinics
Send a photo of your blood spots (Campbell de Morgan spots, cherry angiomas) to your nearest CoLaz clinic on WhatsApp. A qualified clinician reviews the image, confirms whether removal is suitable, and replies with a fixed price within one working day. We use advanced electrolysis with thermolysis: a very fine probe cauterises the feeding vessel under the spot so the angioma fades or crusts and clears within about two weeks.

Blood spots, known clinically as Campbell de Morgan spots or cherry angiomas, are very common, very benign, and very treatable with one precise tool in trained hands. At CoLaz a qualified clinician reviews a photo of the area on WhatsApp, confirms removal is suitable, and replies with a fixed price within one working day. Treatment is performed using advanced electrolysis with thermolysis at our UK clinics.
What blood spots are
Blood spots, known clinically as Campbell de Morgan spots or cherry angiomas, are small bright red papules that sit just under the surface of the skin. They are made up of a tiny cluster of dilated blood vessels, which is what gives them their distinctive red colour.
They are extremely common from middle age onward and most patients will develop at least a few during adulthood. They are completely benign, do not turn into anything more serious, and they are not contagious and not linked to any internal health condition on their own.
They become a cosmetic concern when they cluster across the chest, back, shoulders or abdomen, or when they appear in areas visible in low-cut or sleeveless clothing. Creams and home treatments do not clear them because the lesion is vascular, not surface pigment.
How removal works in clinic
We use advanced electrolysis with thermolysis as the precision method for these small vascular lesions. A very fine probe is placed at the surface of the spot under good light, and a brief low-energy current is delivered for a fraction of a second. The current cauterises the feeding vessel under the lesion, and the surrounding skin is left untouched.
Smaller spots fade and disappear naturally over around two weeks as the body clears the disabled vessel through its normal lymphatic process. Larger raised spots crust over within twenty-four hours and the scab falls away over the next several days, revealing clear skin underneath. The occasional larger spot needs a second session.
Most patients describe the sensation as a brief warm pinch on each spot, manageable without anaesthetic. Several spots can be treated comfortably in a single appointment, and we always prioritise a thorough job over a rushed one.
After your appointment
Tiny pinpoint scabs at the treated points are normal for a few days and settle quickly. Keep the area clean and dry for the first forty-eight hours, apply the antiseptic balm we provide twice daily for five to seven days, and let the small scabs fall away naturally rather than picking them.
A small pink mark can stay at each treated point for a few weeks while the skin remodels, and it usually fades by three months. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day, with no significant downtime.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and intense exercise for forty-eight hours. Apply SPF 50 to any treated areas on visible skin daily for two to four weeks once healed. Cherry angiomas can continue to appear over time on other parts of the body, and a maintenance review every twelve months catches new ones early.
Available across selected CoLaz clinics
Blood spots removal is delivered at our CoLaz Derby, Wembley, Slough, Reading, Southall and Hounslow clinics by qualified clinicians. Use the clinic finder to choose the location that suits your postcode and schedule, or send a WhatsApp message, most clinics reply within five minutes during opening hours.
Often considered alongside
Patients booking blood spot removal often consider thread vein removal for fine red or purple facial vessels treated with the same precision probe, skin tag removal for soft pedunculated growths on the neck and underarms, milia removal for tiny white keratin cysts around the eyes, and age spot removal for flat brown sun spots that often appear alongside cherry angiomas with age.
Common questions
What patients ask first.
What are blood spots? +
Blood spots, known clinically as Campbell de Morgan spots or cherry angiomas, are small bright red papules that sit just under the surface of the skin. They are made up of a tiny cluster of dilated blood vessels, which is what gives them their distinctive red colour. How does blood spot removal work at CoLaz? +

A very fine probe is placed at the spot under good light, and a brief low-energy current is delivered for a fraction of a second. The current cauterises the feeding vessel under the lesion, and the spot either fades and disappears within about two weeks (for smaller spots) or crusts over and clears as the scab falls away (for larger raised ones). The surrounding skin is left untouched.
How do I send a photo for a quote? +
Tap the Send a photo on WhatsApp button at the top of this page. Choose your nearest CoLaz clinic. WhatsApp opens with a pre-filled message; attach a clear, well-lit photo of the area you'd like assessed and send. We may ask one or two follow-up questions (how long the spots have been there, whether new ones have appeared recently, whether you are on blood-thinning medication) so we can quote you accurately.
What if my photo shows something that isn't a benign blood spot? +
If the photo shows a lesion that has changed in colour, size or shape, bleeds without being knocked, has more than one colour or is pigmented, the clinician will decline to quote and recommend you see your GP first. If you have suddenly developed many new spots within a few weeks, that should also be reviewed by a doctor before any cosmetic removal. Patients on blood-thinning medication need GP clearance before treatment.
How many sessions will I need? +
Most blood spots clear in a single session, even when several spots are treated in the same appointment. Larger or older cherry angiomas occasionally need a second top-up session four to six weeks later if a small amount of vascular tissue remains. We confirm in your photo quote reply how many spots can be cleared comfortably in your booked time.
Will it leave a scar? +
Scarring is rare with advanced electrolysis on small vascular lesions in trained hands because the method is very precise and the current stays at the lesion. Tiny pinpoint scabs at the treated points are normal for a few days. A small pink mark can stay for a few weeks while the skin remodels and usually fades by three months. Patients with a personal or family history of keloid scarring should mention this at consultation.
How long will it take to clear? +
Smaller blood spots fade and disappear naturally over around two weeks as the body clears the disabled vessel. Larger raised spots crust over within twenty-four hours and the scab falls away over the next five to seven days, revealing clear skin underneath. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day, with no significant downtime.
What is the aftercare? +
Keep the treated area clean and dry for forty-eight hours, apply the antiseptic balm we provide twice daily for five to seven days, and let the tiny pinpoint scabs fall away naturally rather than picking them. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and intense exercise for forty-eight hours. Apply SPF 50 to any treated areas on visible skin daily for two to four weeks once healed. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day.
How much does blood spot removal cost at CoLaz? +
Blood spot removal is priced by the time needed and the area being treated. A cluster in one area (often ten to twenty spots cleared in a single visit) is at the lower end of the range; a broader pattern across the trunk or multiple body areas scales up. Pricing is confirmed per photo quote, in writing, before any session is booked. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we reply with a firm price for your specific case within one working day.
