Common warts removal at CoLaz clinics

Send a photo of your common warts to your nearest CoLaz clinic on WhatsApp. A qualified clinician reviews the image, confirms whether removal is suitable, and replies with a fixed price within one working day. We use advanced electrolysis: a fine needle delivers a thermolysis current to the wart, and where the wart is soft the clinician can lift it away entirely during the same session.

  • Single warts or small clusters on the face, body or limbs
  • Warts that have started to spread to neighbouring fingers
  • Patients who want a controlled in-clinic treatment rather than home freezing kits
  • Adults with warts that have been present for many months without resolving

Aftercare

For the first forty-eight hours.

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry for the first forty-eight hours

  • Cover any treated warts on the hands when in public pools or shared showers between sessions

What to expect

From your first consultation onwards.

  1. 01

Send a photo of the wart on WhatsApp to your nearest CoLaz clinic (or attach the image during a free in-clinic assessment)

  2. 02

Photo reviewed by a qualified clinician within one working day, who confirms the lesion looks like a common wart rather than another type of growth

Treatment is performed using advanced electrolysis: a fine needle is gently inserted into the wart and a thermolysis current is delivered; if the wart is soft the clinician can lift it away entirely during the same session, otherwise the treated tissue dries and drops away over the following weeks

  6. 06

A topical numbing cream is available for sensitive areas or for patients with several warts in one session

  7. 07

Antiseptic dressing applied in clinic with written aftercare confirmed before you leave

Common warts are caused by HPV, they are very common, and they tend to be stubborn because the virus sits in the deeper layers of the skin where over-the-counter treatments struggle to reach. At CoLaz a qualified clinician reviews a photo of the wart on WhatsApp, confirms removal is suitable, and replies with a fixed price within one working day. Treatment is performed using advanced electrolysis at our UK clinics.

What common warts are

Common warts, known clinically as verruca vulgaris, are small raised rough lesions caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are very common, particularly on the hands, fingers and around the nails, and they can also appear on the face, knees and elsewhere on the body.

They are benign but contagious through direct skin-to-skin contact or shared surfaces such as gym equipment, communal showers and shared towels. They often spread to neighbouring fingers if left untreated, which is why early in-clinic treatment can save you a wider problem later.

Common warts are not the same strain of HPV that causes genital warts or cervical changes. We only treat common warts at CoLaz. Genital warts must always be assessed by a GP or a sexual health clinic and are not within our scope.

How removal works in clinic

We use advanced electrolysis as the precision method for common warts. The tip of a fine probe is gently inserted into the wart, and a thermolysis current is delivered through the needle. The current treats the wart from underneath the surface, where over-the-counter creams and home freeze kits often fail to reach.

If the wart is soft, the clinician can lift it away entirely during the same session. Otherwise the treated tissue dries and drops away over the following weeks. The surrounding skin is left untouched and no stitches are needed.

A topical numbing cream is available on request, especially for warts around the nail or for patients having several treated in one visit. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief warm pressure on each wart. Sessions are typically fifteen to forty-five minutes depending on the number of lesions.

Course length and aftercare

Common warts often need two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart to clear fully, because HPV is a stubborn virus and any tissue left behind can regrow. Single small warts sometimes clear in one session. Older warts, warts in thick skin such as around the nail, and clusters of warts generally need the longer course.

A small scab or blister forms over the treated site within twenty-four hours. Keep the area clean and dry for the first forty-eight hours, apply the antiseptic balm we provide twice daily for ten to fourteen days, and let the scab heal naturally rather than picking it. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and intense exercise for forty-eight hours.

Between sessions, cover any treated warts on the hands when using public pools, shared showers or gym equipment. HPV can spread to other areas of your own skin or to other people while the lesion is still active, and a simple plaster makes a real difference.

Available across selected CoLaz clinics

Common warts removal is delivered at our CoLaz Derby, Wembley, Slough, Reading, Southall and Hounslow clinics by qualified clinicians. Use the clinic finder to choose the location that suits your postcode and schedule, or send a WhatsApp message, most clinics reply within five minutes during opening hours.

Often considered alongside

Patients booking common warts removal often consider verruca removal for plantar warts on the feet caused by the same family of viruses, seborrhoeic keratosis removal for benign waxy growths sometimes confused with warts, and skin tag removal for soft pedunculated growths on the neck or underarms.

Common questions

What patients ask first.

What are common warts? +

Common warts, known clinically as verruca vulgaris, are small raised rough lesions caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are very common, particularly on the hands, fingers and around the nails, and they can also appear on the face, knees and elsewhere on the body. They are benign but contagious through direct skin-to-skin contact or shared surfaces such as gym equipment, and they often spread to neighbouring fingers if left untreated. They are not the same strain of HPV that causes genital warts or cervical changes.

How does common wart removal work at CoLaz? +

We use advanced electrolysis as the precision method. The tip of a fine probe is gently inserted into the wart and a thermolysis current is delivered through the needle. If the wart is soft, the clinician can lift it away entirely during the same session; otherwise the treated tissue dries and drops away over the following weeks. The surrounding skin is left untouched, no stitches are needed, and sessions typically run fifteen to forty-five minutes depending on the number of warts.

How do I send a photo for a quote? +

Tap the Send a photo on WhatsApp button at the top of this page. Choose your nearest CoLaz clinic. WhatsApp opens with a pre-filled message; attach a clear, well-lit close-up of the wart (or each wart, if you have more than one) and send. We may ask one or two follow-up questions (how long the wart has been there, whether it has spread, whether you have tried over-the-counter treatments) so we can quote you accurately.

What if my photo shows something that isn't a common wart? +

If the photo shows a lesion that has changed in colour, size or shape unexpectedly, bleeds without being knocked, has more than one colour or is pigmented, or shows a genital wart, the clinician will decline to quote and recommend you see your GP or a sexual health clinic first. Genital warts must always be assessed by a doctor and are not treated at CoLaz. Patients on immunosuppressant medication should also see their GP first.

How many sessions will I need? +

Common warts often need two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart to clear fully, because HPV is a stubborn virus and any tissue left behind can regrow. Single small warts sometimes clear in one session. Larger or older warts, warts in thick skin such as around the nail, and clusters of warts generally need the longer course. We confirm the likely number of sessions in your photo quote reply.

Will it leave a scar? +

Scarring is uncommon with advanced electrolysis because the method stays precise at the lesion. A small pink, pale or temporarily darker mark is normal at the treated site for several weeks while the skin remodels and usually fades by three to six months. A small permanent mark is possible on thick or older warts. Patients with a personal or family history of keloid scarring should mention this at consultation.

How long will it take to heal? +

Soft warts that lift away on the day leave a small scab that heals over ten to fourteen days. Warts that dry and drop away after treatment usually fall away within four weeks. Deeper or older warts can need follow-up sessions before they fully clear, and we review at each visit. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day.

What is the aftercare? +

Keep the treated area clean and dry for forty-eight hours, apply the antiseptic balm we provide twice daily for ten to fourteen days, and let the small scab or blister that forms heal naturally rather than picking it. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and intense exercise for forty-eight hours. Between sessions, cover any treated warts on the hands when using public pools, shared showers or gym equipment, because HPV can spread to other areas of your own skin or to other people while the lesion is still active.

How much does common wart removal cost at CoLaz? +

Common wart removal is priced by the time needed and the number and size of warts being treated. A single wart or small cluster in one area is at the lower end of the range; multiple warts across more than one area scale up; multi-session courses for stubborn or widespread warts are quoted higher. Pricing is confirmed per photo quote, in writing, before any treatment is booked. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we reply with a firm price for your specific case within one working day.
