The HIFU Non-Surgical Facelift
Also known as ‘Ultrasound Facelift’, ‘Ultherapy’ or ‘3D SkinMed’, HIFU facials have become one of the most popular and desirable lifting treatments for the face and neck. Post-treatment, you’ll see a marked improvement in overall facial contouring, fine lines, and wrinkles.
HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. If you’re battling sagging cheeks, crow’s feet, wrinkles, prominent lines from nose to mouth, under-eye bags, a heavy brow or drooping jowls, then this treatment is an ideal fit.
The HIFU facelift is currently topping the bill as the most discreet and effective face-lift ever. It’s so quick that you can get one during a lunch break.
How Does a HIFU Facial Work?
As we age our skin loses its elasticity and shape, much like our favourite clothes. This change begins in the foundational layers which support our skin—which is how skin sagging and wrinkles occur. When collagen is heated by ultrasound multiple things happen.
Ultrasound technology involves the use of sound wave frequencies. During pregnancy scans, low-frequency sound waves (between 3 – 7.5 MHz) are emitted by an ultrasound device over the mother’s bump. The device transmits the consequent reflections of these sound waves and uses them to form an image.
During a HIFU facial, the HIFU treatment machine uses high-energy ultrasound waves (between 18-20 kHz—a range that is above human hearing) for body contouring instead.
HIFU facials target the foundational layers of the skin with ultrasound. These include the deep dermis and the SMAS layer (also known as the superficial muscular aponeurotic system—the layer that gets tightened in face-lifts).
The HIFU machine focuses ultrasound waves to these points deep within the skin (~4.5mm). The waves heat and coagulate the cells and proteins there to cause cell disruption and death as well as new collagen formation. This ‘deep heat’ treatment leads to skin tightening around the face and neck areas.
The onset of the new collagen generation occurs in the first three months or so following the treatment and persists for around one year. HIFU face-lifts address all areas around the face or neck which have skin laxity issues, and this highly effective procedure is renowned for providing people with new definition after just one treatment.
There is zero downtime needed post-treatment with a HIFU facial as the procedure bypasses the superficial layers of the skin entirely. All of the ultrasound technology effects happen deep within the skin. The ultrasound waves reach the target layer without disrupting the top layer of the skin at all.

What Does a HIFU Facial Feel Like?
As the ultrasound waves are focused across the treatment areas, you will feel tiny amounts of energy transmitted through to precise depths beneath the skin.
This feeling is perfectly normal, and it indicates that the collagen-building process is beginning. The comfort levels during the session will vary from individual to individual, but the sensation only lasts a short while.
HIFU Facelift Results
The latest in clinically proven technology, the HIFU facelift is facial cleansing without the surgery. The procedure lifts and tightens the face and neck for an overall younger looking appearance. HIFU facials are most effective around the nose and mouth area, the jawline, and cheeks.
The procedure works best on skin of mild to moderate laxity where it’s beginning to feel and look less firm with age. You will see results appear after around three months, once the collagen generation has started to happen. As well as being completely non-invasive, the power of the HIFU treatment is immediately visible post-treatment. Hence, why it’s become such a popular alternative to cosmetic facial surgery.

More Information On The HIFU Face Lift Treatment Process
The First Step is to have a consultation.
Your treatment is the second step.
The Final Step is
AfterCare
Stage 1 – Cleansing
The first step is deep cleansing, which removes dead cells, dirt, and dust. This aids in better treatment because it allows for deeper needle penetration into the skin.
Stage 2 – Treatment
This is the stage at which HIFU Face Lift takes place, as previously said. As your skin is punctured, it swells and thickens, fading scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dark patches, and other blemishes.
Stage 3 – Masking
After the procedure, a cooling mask is applied to your skin to minimize any inflammation you may experience due to the treatment.
Stage 4 – Skin Moisturizing
The fourth and final stage of the process involves skin moisturization. To get the best results from the procedure, it's critical to keep your skin hydrated.
HIFU Face Lift doesn't require much post-treatment. Some people may experience mild redness, flaking, or itching, but this is entirely normal and should go away within a few days.
We recommend that you avoid applying makeup for the first 24 hours after the treatment and only use oil-free cosmetics for a few days after the 24 hours. Avoid strenuous activity, steam, and sauna visits 48 hours before and after the treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
The length of a HIFU facial session will depend on the area being treated and your desired results. A full HIFU face and neck procedure typically takesbetween 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment by itself will take around 30 minutes.
Most clients only require one treatment, thoughthis all depends on the individual’s skin laxity, response to the treatment, and the collagen-generation reaction.
The HIFU ultrasound facial method has been developed over the years to ensure that the treatment effect is stronger than before, but it will take a bit of time after your session to see good results.
The reason why the treatment takes time is that the sound waves penetrate deep into the skin to promote the natural production of collagen gradually.
Consequently, this means that your HIFU facial results, though unhurried, will look completely natural. Furthermore, the ‘wearing off’ of results is also progressive and can take from over 9-12 months.
The great thing about the HIFU facelift is that you need no downtime whatsoever after a session. You can even arrange one on your lunch break from work and experience no interruption to your daily routine at all. There is no post-treatment aftercare and make up can be reapplied as normal at the end of your session.
HIFU facelifts have an excellent side effect profile and most (if any) side effects are temporary if they do occur. Ultrasound is a proven technology which has been in use for over 50 years. As the procedure uses only an ultrasound cartridge applicator over your face instead of any invasive surgical needles, there is next to zero bruising, swelling, pain, and downtime.
A patient’s experience may vary, but typically the treatment feels like a warm massage. There is no pain or discomfort associated with the treatment.
