1- I am asian, have mild acne, a lot of scars (not sunken) and I've been told by 2 beauticians that I have folliculitis (although my GP told me this wasn't the case). Would microdermabrasion be appropriate for me?
2- How many sessions are recommended if I am appropriate
3- Could I please have a price quote for the recommended number of sessions?
4- How often would I need 'top-up' sessions to optimise results after the recommended course of treatment?
Answer: Hi AG if your spots look like small, rounded, yellow-red spot then its possible it is folliculitis. Microdermabrasion will help along with my light therapy treatment.
I would recommend around 8 - 12 sessions.
At the moment we are running a special offer. For 6 microdermabrasion treatments including 20 min under the light therapy machine will cost only £300.
Thereafter I recommend a top up once every 6 to 8 weeks.
Hello. I was just wondering is microdermabrasion good for old red acne marks? I have a lot of smooth skin but it looks red from old acne marks.
Will it get rid of redness and marks?
Also is it good for existing spots as I've heard it can spread bacteria around the face and make it worse?
Ive had skin peels but can't afford to have any downtime with peeling which is why I'm wondering if microdemabrasion can help me?
Answer: Mel, this seems like a difficult question to answer without first looking at your skin.
You mention you have old red acne marks but until I see your skin I cannot recommend a course of action. If you are unable to make it to my clinic then send me a picture of your skin. It’s possible you may have some hyper pigmentation marks where you had the acne spots.
I will say that Microdermabrasion is good for superficial acne scarring and skin rejuvenation.

I have a lot of scars from acne on my back, is it possible to get microdermabrasion done on the back? And how much approximately would it cost If it is possible?
Reply Hi Sharon,
We do offer microdermabrasion treatments for post acne scarring on body areas too. This includes the Full back, Chest, stomach and legs.
Microdermabrasion offers a mechanical exfoliation to the skin using a small diamond headpiece. It helps to remove the first two outer-most layers of your skin and therefore revealing fresher and renewed skin beneath. However, this is not the only treatment available for treating acne-scarring. We also offer a number of skin-peels (chemical peels) which can help to give a deeper exfoliation of the area.
It is always best that you show the area to a fully trained therapist before proceeding with any treatments. If alongside the scarring you are still suffering from acne breakouts then it is not advisable that you undertake a course of microdermabrasion as this can aggravate the area further. Chemical peels can help to reduce the sebum production under the skin whilst at the same time giving an exfoliating effect on top. Therefore both issues can be targeted simultaneously.
Those left with just the scarring from acne are more likely to opt for microdermabrasion. This treatment can be conducted more often than chemical peels – so the course of treatments can be finished in a much shorter period. The skin on your body takes longer to heal than that on the face. Therefore, chemical peel treatments are conducted every 4 -6 weeks. Microdermabrasion, which is a less harsh than chemical peels, can be done every fortnight.
Both treatments normally take around 30 – 40 minutes. Treatments include cleansing, the exfoliation method and then a calming and soothing masque is applied. With both treatments it is recommended that you proceed with a course of 6 – 12 sessions in order to see optimum results. We advise on packages of 6 because after an initial course the area can be reassessed and alternative methods may be advised.
Microdermabrasion at our salon costs £40 for a 30 minute session or £60 for an hour. It works out cheaper to purchase a course – and we often have special offers which are running where you can pick up further discounts. The same applies for Chemical peels. Their prices start from £99 per session. Click the following link for our special offers page.
With both treatments it is essential that we check your medical background. Many steroid creams that are often prescribed by doctors to help combat acne can also thin out the skin. Therefore this can also make your skin become more sensitive to a number of procedures. I advise that you schedule a consultation with a specialist who can advise you on which of the treatments is most suitable for you.
I would like to request price quotes for microdermabrasion, plus, I would like to know if this is benefical to "Caribbean Black" skin.
I have a question that I would like a feedback on. Does Microdermabrasioin Facial work on Black "Carribean" skin? and if so, how much is the price?
Microdermabrasion is great for minor acne scarring. It doesn't work on pitted scarring. It's good for skin rejuvenation; it's nice to get rid of the dead skin cells, so it does give your skin a good glow.
We've got quite a few black/African skin that have suffered from acne and it's worked amazingly on them and they keep coming back for more courses. They're skins cleared up and it looks a lot better and it's a lot brighter as well.
My question is, what are you looking to treat on your skin? So that will help me to establish what treatment would be suitable for you.
The average cost for microdermabrasion per session is £60, that's an hour facial. A course of six treatments is £300. We do a mini microdermabrasion which is £40 per session and the course price for six sessions is a £190.
But do come back to me and let me know what condition you are looking to treat on your skin.
