How many treatments will I need?
It normally takes 25 to 45 minutes to treat your entire upper lip, depending on your hair growth. In fact, if I am able to treat the hair during its anagen, or hair growth stage, it will never grow back . If I miss it the first time, there is a 90 percent chance that I will be able to treat the hair during the anagen stage after the second treatment.
What is the difference between the Applisonix and IPL Lasers?
The Applisonix uses ultrasound waves which are channelled precisely down the hair shaft. In the process they transform to thermal energy that super heats the hair growth area at 65 c and inhibits regrowth.
IPL Lasers work on light. The heat from the laser (dissipates) transfers from one area to another. If not performed properly can cause burns/damage to skin. You also cannot treat blond, red or white hair because the IPL cannot detect the pigment in hair colour.
Is the applisonix treatment painful?
The applisonix treatment is virtually pain free as the ultrasound waves do not dissipate in to the surrounding skin tissue which contains the main pain receptors. Thereby the treatment can be carried out on even the most sensitive areas.
Can white hair be treated?
Unlike laser hair removal all colour hairs can be treated as the ultrasound technology does not rely on the colouring (melanin) in the hair to be effective. applisonix is even effective on real fine downy hair which was previously not treatable .
Does it matter what colour skin I have?
Irrespective of the colour of your skin, you are suitable for applisonix treatments as the skin is not affected. Applisonix technology can even be used on pigmented areas, like the areola (nipple) area and on mucous areas (nose hair, ear hair .etc )
Can I be treated if I have a suntan in the treated area?
Yes unlike laser you can be treated as the surrounding skin is unaffected.
Can I be treated if I am on photosensitizing medication?
Yes unlike laser you can be treated as the surrounding skin is unaffected
What is the percentage of hair reduction after treatments?
In controlled clinical studies an average of 38% hair reduction has been achieved after the second treatment
How many treatments does it take to permanently remove a hair?
Treated hair in the anagen phase should not re-grow following a single session. New growing hairs (previously not in anagen) will need to be retreated.
How many treatments is required for each area?
In general a course of 6 to 8 treatments is required to catch each hair in its anagen phase (growing phase ) After this course of treatments , you periodically may require a top up treatment to treat semi dormant hairs which only come in to anagen on an annual basis .
Are the results permanent?
Long-term results are dependent on genetics, hormones and medications which can induce hair growth.
What is the recommended interval between treatments?
Usually, 2-3 weeks are required for some of the hairs to grow back in the treated area. Shorter intervals may be used if desired.
